Frequently Asked Questions
Is Anet IPTV free to use?
Yes! The app includes free channels (kids, news, religious, music, radio) that work without any login or subscription. For access to full IPTV content (thousands of live channels, movies, and series), you'll need to either purchase a license or connect with your own Xtream Codes provider. New users get an automatic 30-day free trial.
What is an Activation Code and where do I get one?
An activation code is a license key that unlocks full access to the app. You can purchase one at anettv.org/purchase. Plans are available for 1 month, 3 months, or 12 months. Each code supports multiple devices depending on your plan. Enter the code on the Connection screen under "Activation Code".
Can I use my own IPTV provider / Xtream Codes server?
Yes! On the Connection screen, choose "Server URL" and enter your Xtream Codes server URL, username, and password. The app works with any Xtream Codes-compatible IPTV provider. Your provider should give you these credentials.
How many devices can I use with one activation code?
The number of devices depends on your license plan. Each activation code has a device limit set by the administrator. If you try to activate on more devices than allowed, you'll see a message like "Device limit reached (2/2)". Contact your provider to upgrade your device limit if needed.
My TV is not Samsung, LG, Hisense, or Roku. Can I still use the app?
Yes! Open your TV's built-in web browser and go to anettv.org/tv/. The web app works on any Smart TV with a browser — Sony, TCL, Philips, Sharp, Vizio, Panasonic, Xiaomi, and more. You can also use a Chromecast with Google TV, Fire TV Stick, or any Android TV box.
Do I need to install anything on my Smart TV?
No! The easiest method for any Smart TV is to open the built-in web browser and go to anettv.org/tv/. No installation, no sideloading, no developer mode. Just open the URL and start watching. The downloadable packages (.wgt, .ipk) are optional and provide a more native experience.
Is the app available for iOS / Mac?
Not yet as a native app. However, you can use the web app at anettv.org/tv/ on Safari on your iPhone, iPad, or Mac. The web version works on all Apple devices. A native iOS/macOS app is planned for a future release.
What video formats are supported?
The app supports HLS (.m3u8), MPEG-TS, MP4, MKV, and direct streams. HLS adaptive bitrate streaming is fully supported with automatic quality adjustment. The player uses hls.js for broad compatibility across all browsers and platforms.
Can I change the stream quality?
Yes! Go to Settings → Stream Quality and cycle through: Auto, Low, Medium, High. "Auto" adapts to your internet speed automatically. Choose "Low" if you have a slow connection, or "High" if you want maximum quality.
Troubleshooting

Solutions to common issues.

Channel is stuck on "Loading" and won't play
  • Check your internet: Make sure you have a stable connection of at least 5 Mbps
  • Try another channel: The stream may be offline or geo-restricted
  • Lower quality: Go to Settings → Stream Quality → set to "Low"
  • Clear cache: Go to Settings → Clear Cache, then try again
  • Refresh: On the web version, press Ctrl+Shift+R to hard refresh
  • Wait for retry: The app automatically retries up to 3 times with quality downgrade
"Invalid credentials" or "Connection failed" error
  • Double-check your server URL, username, and password — they are case-sensitive
  • Make sure the server URL includes the port number (e.g., http://server.com:8080)
  • Your IPTV subscription may have expired — contact your provider
  • Your IP may be blocked by the provider — try connecting from a different network or use a VPN
App shows blank screen or won't load
  • Hard refresh: Press Ctrl+Shift+R (or clear browser cache on TV)
  • Clear app data: On your TV, go to Settings → Apps → Anet IPTV → Clear Data
  • Check browser: Make sure your browser supports JavaScript and HTML5 video
  • Update browser: On Smart TVs, update the TV firmware for the latest browser version
Remote control / D-pad navigation doesn't work
  • Click anywhere on the screen first to give the app keyboard focus
  • Make sure you're using the TV remote's directional pad (arrow keys), not a pointing device
  • On Samsung TVs, try pressing any arrow key first to activate navigation mode
  • On LG TVs with the Magic Remote, use the D-pad buttons (not the pointer mode)
"License expired" or trial ended
Your trial period or license has expired. You can:
  • Purchase a new license at anettv.org/purchase
  • Enter a new activation code on the Connection screen
  • Continue using the Free TV section which never expires
  • Connect with your own Xtream Codes provider (no license needed)
Windows SmartScreen blocks the app
This is normal for unsigned applications. The app is safe to run:
  1. When you see "Windows protected your PC", click "More info"
  2. Click "Run anyway"
  3. The app will launch normally
This warning only appears the first time you run the app.
